Provide appropriate workplace support using trusted skills

Work and life aren’t always plain sailing. Everyone faces their own difficulties which may be fleeting or take place over time, with potential to overlap into the workplace. We all face a range of situational and mental health challenges, impacted by life’s traumatic events, crisis situations, natural disasters like recent floods or bushfires, relationship conflict, personal injury, grief and loss, Domestic and Family Violence (DV), financial challenges, separation/divorce, substance abuse and situational stress and anxiety.

As a colleague or manager, it is NOT your role or responsibility to be a counsellor. HOWEVER, you can effectively support your colleagues and staff by understanding how to communicate in a helpful way. Often people can manage their workload well if they work in an environment feeling supported and empowered, allowing opportunity to access external help for their individual circumstances.

It’s important to be assured that you are saying the right things and helping in an appropriate way. Often people avoid discussions because they don’t know how to respond. Take the guess work and avoidance out of it by learning well researched, trusted skills that are used in clinical practice, relayed for everyday people to effectively support colleagues, family and friends.

Learn directly from a Registered Counsellor who is also a Certified Trainer and Assessor in workplace and educational settings. Find the confidence not to second guess yourself through developing skills which are evidence based.
